Brussels Sprouts? Really?

Okay, so I love the veggie plate at South City Kitchen. It changes occasionally so you never know what you're going to get. The last time I picked up my order, there they were. Brussels sprouts. They could be the most dreaded of vegetables, but as I become more and more vegetarian, I'm always looking to branch out and expand my palate beyond, well, corn. So, I gave 'em a whirl and I have to say, they're not THAT bad. What a pleasant surprise! I even bought some frozen ones the following week to add to our rotation. I have yet to cook them, but that's a different story.

Cook them in milk..bring them just under a boil and turn them down and simmer until they're tender. Drain them and serve with a little butter, salt, pepper and parsley...teh yum!!!

Cabbage is very good cooked like that, too...the milk cuts down on the stink factor- both before and after eating! :)
