We knew it was coming. Our air conditioner has been on the fritz for some time and it finally died last Sunday. So here I am, playing hooky, while Martin and his crew replace our old unit with one that will hopefully out-last our stay in this house. I volunteered to stay home and "manage the project" so that Bhrett could work. It's so weird being home with nothing to do. And since I recently caught some flak about not updating my blog, I decided to spend a few minutes catching up. Let's see...what happened in April?
1. I bought a car! Good ol' Christie Camry had a busted radiator, and after seven years, it was time for her to go. I admit, I was actually kind of sad when the dealership said the car would probably be scrapped for parts. It wasn't THAT ghetto, was it?!? lol Anyway, Bhrett and I decided to buy a 2009 RAV4 from World Toyota Scion. I love everything about it except the name....what the heck is a RAV anyway? I really need to come up with something more suitable... any suggestions?

2. I went to Amelia Island with Loren and Joanna. What a relaxing trip! Joanna got a great deal on a room at the Ritz. Spoiled, I know! We spent our time by the pool with fruity drinks - the watermelon mojito was to die for! After dinner, we'd make our way back to the hotel to listen to the band (we're such party animals!). There were some pretty impressive older couples out on the dance floor - it made me wish that Bhrett and I could dance like that (or anything that even slightly resembled dancing, for that matter!). Oddly, we didn't take any pictures of the three of us while we were there, but just know that it was super sweet.
3. We had dinner with Jen and Greg at Season's 52 which was yummy, although dessert could've been a little more "satisfying". If you've eaten there before, you know what I mean! :-)
4. It's baby season again...I shopped for five, count 'em, five baby shower gifts last Saturday. I think that's a new record! Seeing as how I've spent so much time there recently, I've really developed a love-hate relationship with Babies R Us. I mean, it's so overwhelming, especially for someone who doesn't have kids. Sadly, I now have aisles 1-14 committed to memory, so if you're on the receiving end of any of these gifts, know that that's probably where it came from. Anything past aisle 14 or on the left-hand side of the store is a no-go...it's just too stressful to venture that far in.
If I remember correctly, Kat (girl) and Jana (Joley Nicole) are both due in May. Jenna (Liliana Allison), Melissa (Ira Kenneth) and Jeanne (boy) are all due in June. Which reminds me, Alicia and Sean welcomed their little boy, William Sean, into the world yesterday. Congrats to their families!
5. Last night I went to the Jen Lancaster book signing with Loren and Jill. I left with a cute pic and some girlie summer reading for the Holden Beach trip (yay!).

7. And that brings us to today...still playing hooky...still waiting on cool air...Oops, I just noticed that I skipped #6. Maybe the heat's getting to me?
