The Smiths 1st Visit to The Hump

Back in July, Erin, Rodd, Meadow (2 years old) and Ivy (almost 1) spent the day at the lake with us. This was the first time Bhrett and I invited kids to the houseboat - it's definitely not kiddie proof! I think we were both a little nervous, but still SO excited. I couldn't wait to see how Meadow reacted to "the big pool."

It was funny because as I carried her on to the boat for the first time, I said, "Do you want to go on the boat?" Her answer? "Nooooooooo!" My first thought was, "Boy, this could be a LONG day." I had visions of her crying for hours on end.

Lucky for all of us, she was pretty quickly distracted by all the new things to look at and touch. Right away, we spent some time counting and feeding the ducks. Soon after, we were in the water, floating and swimming. She really liked to kick around, but she had no interest in getting her face wet, so the excitement of the water didn't last for long.

Toward the end of the day, Erin got brave and suggested we take the ski boat out to see how the girls would react. Meadow was definitely timid, but she learned to enjoy the ride. Ivy on the other hand, wanted no part of it. Her life jacket was uncomfortable and the wind in her face was a bit much. We all felt so bad for her! It was a short trip, but even so, I think Erin and Rodd were really happy to be back on the lake! I can't wait to have them back soon!
