(Temporary) Bronze Goddess

I'm pretty pale. There's no denying it. When I was small, my Pop-pop thought there was something wrong with me. Now that I'm older (and more sun damaged), I try to embrace my paleness as to avoid skin cancer any time in the near future. I wear SPF 70. I haven't been to a tanning bed since my sophomore year of college. Listen, I have pictures where my skin is actually glowing against the bright white sand of Mexico. Not cute!

So this year, I decided to say 'no more!' to milky white skin and 'yes!' to a golden bronze tan...or at least that's the plan. Seeing as how I fry in the sun and the fact that time is of the essence (let the Holden Beach countdown begin, woo-hoo!), I decided to try
spray tanning.

I'll spare you the details, but just know that stepping into that booth confirmed a few things for me:

1. I'm claustrophobic.
2. There are certain parts of me that sun nor spray tan will ever reach.
3. I can't hold my breath for very long.

In the end, the results were decent, I guess. I was tan-ish for only about 3-4 days, but for $15 a pop and no skin cancer, I guess it was worth it.

Do y'all remember this episode of Friends?

So would you do it again? I really want to spray tan but I have seen some bad ones!

I will do it again! I got the regular - not the dark - and had a couple of Oompa-Loompa type spots on my hand and feet, but nothing too terrible. My only advice is to avoid wearing a bra for a few hours afterwards if possible.

i did this once for a friend's wedding and it looked like my feet had not been washed in YEARS!
then i decided to go to an actual spray tan-ER (someone who physically stands there and sprays you) Visual: NAKED standing on a platform with legs spread and my hands up on a wall. EVERYTHING...i repeat...EVERYTHING...was sprayed.
