UPDATE: Jen Lancaster Book Signing!

Jill, Loren, Joanna, Courtney and Alison joined me at the Jen Lancaster book signing and it was great fun. Jen did a reading from her new book, Pretty In Plaid, and we had front-row seats! She told the crowd stories about earning - or forging signatures to gain, as it were - Girl Scout badges as a young girl. Jill and I looked at each other and laughed more than once - not because we were ever dishonest about learning the skills necessary to earn a new badge, but because we both still have our very own brown sashes with pinned-on badges and green vests that were only worn a handful of times after we realized how silly they looked.

Random memory: Erin and I decided to quit Girl Scouts pretty early on because our leader wouldn't let us sit on the floor at meetings. She insisted we sit in chairs (like ladies! the nerve!) and at 11 years old we weren't having it. Ah, funny ... Actually, the last cool thing I remember doing as a Girl Scout was having my troop over to my Grandma's house (because she rocks) to tie-dye green and white t-shirts that we all wore to school the very next day. Okay, maybe not exactly cool, but definitely better than trying to earn a 'Court Sports' or 'Finding Your Way' Junior Badge.

Anyway, Jen was very gracious and funny, and while I blabbered on to her about the email correspondance she and I once had, she wrote on my copy of the book, "No porn 'staches." LOL (Some of you may remember the email I sent out last year that included a picture of Bhrett and his unfortunate 'stache taken before the entire beard came off.) Anyway, here's a picture of us with Jen.
